The range of Contract Furniture Craftwork manufactures is detailed below -
These include Care Home Chairs, Restauarant Chairs, Nursing Home Chairs and Hotel Chairs. We manufacture lounge chairs, dining chairs, tubs and sofas as well as specialist chairs for Mental Health use
Craftwork manufactures both 4 legged and pedestal tables for use as dining tables or coffee tables. All tables are designed for use in the contract environment
Craftwork Contract Furniture manufactures both lounge and bedroom cabinet furniture for the contract market. We have six ranges of bedroom cabinet furniture and two ranges of lounge cabinet furniture
All the contract furniture we sell is manufactured by Craftwork Contract Furniture in the UK
Our contract chairs are manufactured from air or kiln dried European hard woods from sustainable sources. Mostly this is beech, but we also use ash, sycamore and birch
Upholstered chair frames are constructed using glued, screwed and dowelled components while show wood frames use comb and mortice & tenon joints for strength
Bedroom cabinet contract furniture is manufactured from high grade MF MDF and MFC. Tops are either vinyl wrapped or have polished or banded edges
Bespoke furniture is available in both seating and in cabinet products. We are happy to produce contract furniture from a customer’s drawing or sketch for large projects
We are also happy to modify any of our existing range of contract chairs to suit a customer’s particular requirement. On chairs changes in leg type, foam or fibre specification, lumbar support, stapling, and seat height are all easily carried out at a minimum additional cost and for products in small quantities.
Altering the dimensions of a product is the most common customisation of bedroom cabinet furniture. This enables an end user to make the most of the space in the room. We can also accommodate using colour finishes outside our standard range on large schemes while handles can be changed at a minimum additional cost
We supply most lounge contract chairs at a seat height of 460mm, but 410 and 510mm seat heights are available on most chairs. Contract Dining chairs tend to be a little higher and are mostly supplied at 485mm. Low chairs tend to look sleeker but are often difficult to get out of. The rake of the back and depth of the seat also affects the comfort of the chair and the ease with which the user can get in and out of it. It’s often a good idea to buy contract chairs with a range of seat heights for a scheme to give a range of seating styles.
Most contract chairs are manufactured in light coloured hard woods so are stained and polished to give them the correct finish. We produce 6 standard wood shades – natural, light oak, beech, teak, walnut and dark mahogany - by staining the wood prior to polishing. We can also stain the wood to match an existing sample provided by the customer. This colour matching service incurs a small additional charge per colour matched. So if only one matched colour is required on an order only one charge will be made regardless of how many chairs are needed in that colour on that order
Our polishing system meets severe contract standard as defined by BS6250, making the polish highly resistant to chipping. This is an important factor in the furniture looking good over time, particularly where a dark stain has been used and any chipping reveals the lighter wood underneath
We also use an anti-microbial polish called Medicote on all our furniture. This resists the spread of infection whatever the environment
Under BS7176 most public areas are classed as medium hazard and require furniture that has been tested under BS5852 to ‘crib 5’ fire retardancy. All our contract furniture complies with this requirement and is clearly labeled as suitable for medium hazard areas
Sometimes the fire officer for a building will ask to see furniture fire certification as part of his inspection. In this case we are very happy to provide full certification of fabrics and foams
Some ‘public’ areas, most notably prisons, are classed as high hazard under BS7176 and require ‘crib 7’ furniture. We are able to provide furniture to this increased standard
Craftwork Contract Furniture holds the ISO 9000 : 2008 quality standard. Our quality credentials are further enhanced by the 100% inspection carried out by a dedicated quality control inspector on all contract furniture before it leaves the factory. We deliver on our own transport to ensure no damage occurs during delivery
Craftwork has carried out representative testing on all its furniture against a number of strength and stability standards. The Furniture Industry Research Association (FIRA) is the main test body in this area in the UK and tests contract chairs to BS EN 15373:2007, contract bedroom cabinet furniture to BS 4875-7/4 and contract tables to BS EN 15372/2. We test our Contract Furniture to this standard
Customers can choose either a fabric or a vinyl to cover their contract chairs. Vinyls are generally manufactured in PVC, often with a PU coating, to give them a softer feel. Many vinyls are given a textured finish to replicate leather, hence faux leather
Most contract chairs are manufactured to order, with the customer choosing which fabric the chair is covered in. Craftwork, like many manufacturers bases its pricing on a number of fabric bands. Our sales office can provide swatch packs of a range of fabrics designed for the contract sector the customer is working in whether the requirement is for restaurant seating, hotel seating, care home seating or nursing home seating. These are clearly labeled with the price band they fall into. Alternatively, many fabric companies have excellent websites where the fabric choice can be viewed on line
All of our contract furniture is manufactured to order on a lead time of between 4 – 6 weeks. If you are undertaking a large project it’s probably better to allow 8 weeks as a delay on just one fabric can disrupt the whole scheme.
It may be possible to turn round an order more quickly if it is particularly urgent. Our ability to do this will depend on the factory loading, on our transport delivery schedule and on the size of the requirement. If you have an urgent requirement it’s always worth asking our sales department
When we acknowledge an order we tell you which week you will receive your furniture. The week before we are due to deliver we will give you a call and tell you the day of the delivery. If this isn’t convenient we can reschedule, although this may delay the delivery.
Deliveries are made between 8.00am and 6.00pm
If the value of the goods is reasonably large then we are happy to offer a ‘date specific delivery’ at the time of order. Ask our sales office for further information
Our standard delivery service is to take the furniture into the nearest downstairs room of the property. This is the basis on which we normally quote, but two other options are available -
If the order is large then we offer an additional discount if the customer wants us to deliver on a tailgate basis. This is where we put only one driver on the van who will help get the customers team unload, but will not carry furniture into the premises. This can be useful for the customer on large projects where they have a team on site unloading from a variety of suppliers
At the other end of the scale we also offer a placement service where we put the furniture in the correct room, remove all the packaging and brush down the fabric. There is a small additional cost for this service which assumes there is ready access to the building and that the lifts are working
Deliveries to Mainland UK excluding Cornwall and Far North of Scotland are charged within our standard pricing structure. Deliveries to Cornwall, the Far North of Scotland and any delivery involving a ferry crossings will incur additional charges. Further details are available from our sales office
